Welcome to Puyallup Kindergarten of the Performing Arts!!!

We are the only true performing arts school in the Pacific Northwest! Our curriculum includes violin and piano (with note reading), ballet, tap, creative movement, acting, singing, math concepts and literature & writing skills. Then the skills taught in the performing arts are used to teach core curriculum skills, which match Puyallup School District's academic requirments.

We don’t just teach the alphabet – we play music!

We don’t just read a story – we act it out!

We don’t just count – we dance!

   KINDERGARTEN OVERVIEW
Please see the School Handbook for full policy & procedure statement.

Times: Kindergarten class is from Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 to 12:00.

Calendar: We follow the Puyallup School District schedule regarding snow closures and most longer breaks. Please see the handbook for the specific calendar for the year.

Age: To be admitted to the kindergarten program, a child must be not less 5 years of age prior to September 1st of that school year. Younger students will be considered on a case by case basis. PPKPA does not guarantee that early enrollment into the PPPKA kindergarten will result in the student becoming eligible for first grade in the Puyallup or any neighboring school district. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to check with their local school district’s policies as to whether their student will be eligible to enter the first grade upon exit from PPKPA kindergarten.

Tuition: Annual tuition for kindergarten is $3600.00.
A non-refundable registration fee of $75 is due at the time of registration.
Annual tuition may be paid in 9 monthly installment payments of $400.00.
A 5% discount will be applied to the annual tuition for each subsequent child currently enrolled in the preschool and/or the kindergarten from a multiple child family.
A 5% discount will be applied to the annual tuition, if the entire amount of annual tuition is paid at the beginning of the academic year.

Additional Costs:
Violin Rental/Purchase. Violin study starts in January for all Kindergarten students. Students who have been in our preschool will resume violin study in early October. A violin supply list, with your child’s violin measurement will be sent home in December for new students.
Ballet Shoes & Tap Shoes. We will gladly give help and guidance as needed.

Philosophy: Music and the related performing arts are taught in a fun, non-competitive manner that also engages all the brain processes that boost and stimulate learning in all areas beyond the arts. We teach the arts, then use the arts to teach.

Additionally: Arts based learning builds self-confidence; supportive social interaction; and development of large and small muscles.

Performances: There are four scheduled school performances in which the students can demonstrate their new skills for family and friends!

Health: Proof of up-to-date immunization is required before the child may enter school. For the health of your child and others, please keep your child home if there are any signs of illness.

Dress: Please dress your child in comfortable clothes and rubber soled shoes that they can move in. Remember to label all sweaters, jackets, etc.

Lunch: Kindergarten students will eat lunch at school. Parents need to send a sugar-free lunch with their child each day. We will gladly work with parents to accommodate any food allergies or dietary restrictions. Good table manners are always encouraged.

Conferences: At least two conferences will be scheduled between the teacher and parents during the school year. Additional conferencing may be scheduled if requested.

Student Assessment: Students are formally assessed three time each academic year.  Additional assesments may be added, depending on student need.

Music & Dance Instruction: Videos of the music or dance concept being taught will be posted online, so parents can practice with their children at home.
